At ice out, it’s mixed bag time with Walleyes, Northern Pike, Brown, Rainbow and Lake trout all cruising Door County Shorelines. It’s not unusual to catch several different species on an early spring day. The walleye bite really picks up after the spawn. The weather can be cold, but the action is hot!
Walleyes remain hot into Late June and Salmon and big Rainbow (Steelhead) trout in July and August. The bite can be early, so we normally start fishing in the dark, watching the sunrise. This time of year, Captain Andy stalks Big King Salmon like the fishing cat he is, centered in Bailey’s Harbor.
All things lead to the inshore fall Chinook ‘King’ Salmon run, and offshore Steelhead trout fill the cooler!
Walleyes, Northern Pike, Trout, and Whitefish are caught through the ice. Captain Andy can accommodate large groups, has all the equipment, and makes a day on the ice comfortable with transportation to heated shacks. Rates per person and very affordable.
